1. Lenovo Z6 Pro Teaser Hints At 100 Megapixel Camera

Lenovo has started to tease it’s upcoming flagship device, Lenovo Z6 Pro. The company has been sharing images and teasers with a hashtag in the Chinese, which translates to ‘billion pixels’. The billion pixels tag means 100 megapixels. Recently Qualcomm added support of upto 192 megapixels for it’s chips. Lenovo Z6 Pro either may come with a single 100 megapixel sensor, or multiple camera sensors adding upto 100 megapixels or repeated frames captured at different shutter speeds.

2. Google Pixel 3a to start at €450 and have a purple version

Google's 'lite' versions of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have been leaking like crazy for the past few months, and they should finally become official sometime this spring. In the US they're rumored to be exclusive to Verizon, which is unsurprising given Google's past antics.

What about the rest of the world? Well, a new report from Germany today tells us to expect the smaller Pixel 3a to start at €450, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There may or may not be a model with more storage, but it's unlikely the lite Pixel 3 will overtake the actual Pixel 3 when it comes to RAM - so that benchmark listing from a while back where the 3a XL had 6GB was probably just a glitch.

The Pixel 3a and 3a XL will arrive in white and black, but also a third color mysteriously called Iris. This will probably end up looking purple-ish.

According to past leaks and rumors, the mid-range phones will have 5.6" and 6" displays, respectively, the Snapdragon 670 SoC (or 710) at the helm, a 12 MP rear camera, and an 8 MP selfie snapper.

3. Upcoming Features On WhatsApp: Dark Mode & Authentication

Facebook-owned WhatsApp will soon be adding a new dark mode feature with an added authentication mode. These features will soon be made available on its Android platform. The beta testing is already live, the features are expected to be available within a few weeks. Now soon you will be able to use fingerprint sensor to unlock your WhatsApp with support for Dark Mode.

4. Samsung Galaxy A2 Core specs leak: a tiny phone with a 5" screen and Android Go

The Galaxy A2 Core is tiny by today’s standards with a 5” screen with 540 x 960px resolution (that’s 16:9). The whole thing measures 141.7 x 71.0 x 9.1mm and weighs 142g. The battery capacity is 2,600mAh.

The phone sports a 5MP camera on the back (1.12µm pixels, f/1.9 aperture) as well as an unspecified selfie camera.

The Samsung Galaxy A2 Core will run Android 8.1 Oreo Go edition on an Exynos 7870 chipset with 1GB of RAM. The dual SIM models will have a dedicated slot for the microSD card.

On the connectivity side, there's microUSB, a 3.5mm audio jack (with FM radio support), Wi-Fi at 2.4GHz, Bluetooth 4.2. What’s missing is HD Voice and NFC.

There will be an A-series event on April 10, but the Galaxy A2 Core is pretty low profile and may be unveiled quietly without much fuss.

5. Facebook To Use Tools To Boost Engagement During Elections

Facebook is working in collaboration with Election Commission to curb fake news in the country. Now, the social media site has launched two new tools to grow user engagement. There are two new features: Candidate Connect and Share You Voted. The first feature will help users learn about their candidates and the latter one will put out a post that confirms that they have voted.

6. Samsung expects to ship 60 million S10 units by the end of 2019

While early indications expect the smartphone market to keep shrinking for at least another year, Samsung might be able to return to growth earlier than that. According to supply chain sources Samsung’s 2019 flagships are expected to surpass last year’s S9 sales figures and hit 60 million shipments globally.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 family has done pretty well in terms of preorders across China and the US. A report from DigiTimes estimates a 10-15% increase in total shipments for the Galaxy S10 lineup compared to their predecessors, which would result in approximately 60 million shipments for the calendar year.

The combination of new design, improved cameras, and incoming 5G variants has surely contributed to the growing sales of Samsung’s flagship line as the company seeks to maintain its leading spot in the global smartphone market despite pressure from Huawei. The diversified A series range is another example of how Samsung is aiming to breach entry and mid-range segments, especially in regions like China where Xiaomi and Huawei reign supreme.

5G is another key area where Samsung has invested heavily to compete with the Huawei and the upcoming Galaxy S10 5G should be the first commercially available phone to support the latest networking standard. The balanced strategy and push for innovation should allow Samsung to remain at the top of the smartphone world.
